COMMUNITY PROGRAMS REGISTRAR (Posted June, 2009)
The Longy School of Music seeks candidates for a Community Programs Registrar. The Community Programs Registrar will manage all registration functions pertaining to Longy’s Community Programs, assist with various operational duties and work closely with other members of the Community Programs staff. S/he will be expected to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Ability to work on Saturdays is required of this position.
Responsibilities Include:
Process all registrations and payments. This includes taking phone-in, walk-in and mail-in registrations and payments, completing data entry and proper distribution of registration confirmations, enrollment verification, payment receipts
Collaborate with Director of Community Programs to ensure efficient placement of students
Manage wait-list for classes as needed, and ensure distribution of re-registration information to Community Programs student population
Maintain current enrollment information for private studios and classes. Provide enrollment information and reports to the Director of Community Programs and to faculty
Act as liaison between office of Institutional Advancement and Community Programs
This includes maintaining files for the Community Programs’ financial aid program, payment plans, and scholarships, as well as maintaining the Community Program’s information in Institutional Advancement Office database
Working to develop connection between scholarship donors, recipients, and prospects.
Assist in scheduling auditions and performance evaluations for Community Program
Assist Director of Community Programs in scheduling interviews, and meetings
Manage Saturday and summer-term room scheduling
Provide general administrative support as needed (filing, preparing mailings, phone calls, etc.)
Maintain prompt and effective communication with parents and faculty answering phone calls and responding to emails in a timely fashion
Qualifications
Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail
Excellent communication and customer-service skills
Ability to work well in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
Willingness to work independently, and collaboratively as part of a team
Strong computer skills, including Excel, Word, and the ability to learn new programs
Must be available to work on Saturdays
Minimum Bachelor’s Degree and previous work experience required
Background in music desirable

VICE PRESIDENT OF INSTITUTIONAL ADVANCEMENT (Posted August 28, 2008)
This full-time Senior Staff position at Longy School of Music will oversee the organization’s development strategies, systems and operations including annual fund solicitation, capital campaigns, cultivation events, major gift donations, corporate and foundation giving, board development and alumni relations. This position will ensure that the school’s fundraising model supports Longy’s mission and drives the advancement of the organization. This position will report directly to the president and will primarily be responsible for strategy, building relationships with major donors and managing the institutional advancement team.
Responsibilities include:
Creating and implementing a comprehensive and dynamic strategy for Longy’s Institutional Advancement
Supervising and managing the Institutional Advancement team of six professionals and support staff
Ensuring that fundraising efforts support the maintenance of a balanced budget and Longy’s growth
Building strong relationships with critical foundations, corporations and major donors
Outreaching locally and nationally to grow Longy’s donor pool
Collaborating with staff to capitalizing on Longy’s current events and creating new opportunities for donor and alumni cultivation
Strategically planning for Longy’s future
Collaborating with the business office on gift policy, reporting and campaign planning
Working closely with the Communications Department to best leverage Longy’s website, written communications, and media relations
Collaborating with senior staff, staff and faculty to connect Institutional Advancement and reflect the Longy’s current and future activities
Acting as the staff representative on the Board of Trustees’ Institutional Advancement Committee
Working closely with the Governance Committee to bring talented individuals onto the Board of Visitors and Board of Trustees
Overseeing the recruitment and growth of the Board of Visitors group
Qualification:
Longy is currently looking for someone with at least ten years of experience in a senior leadership position in development.
