TEACHER OF COMPOSITION AND THEORY (PART-TIME) (Posted December 23, 2009)
The Longy School of Music seeks a composer to joins its Conservatory composition faculty. Teaching duties will include private studio composition lessons and theory courses (which may include solfège, keyboard harmony, form and analysis, and counterpoint) in both the undergraduate and graduate programs. Additional teaching may also be offered through the Community Programs division.
Date of appointment: Fall 2010.
QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates for the position will be composers with broadly recognized records of creative work and significant accomplishment as educators in higher education. Successful candidates will bring a creative, engaging, and dynamic approach to the classroom and have the expertise to teach rigorous undergraduate theory skills courses, most notably, solfège (fixed-do) and keyboard harmony. An advanced degree (MM) or demonstrated equivalent is required; three years of experience teaching in higher education is preferred.

The Longy School of Music seeks a teacher of trombone for the Community Programs Department which encompasses the preparatory and continuing studies divisions. This position will include individual/private lessons as well as small ensembles coaching. The applicant must be comfortable teaching students of all ages, musical talent, and abilities. We are looking for a teacher who is equally enthusiastic about teaching a student who is just beginning a relationship with music, as he/she would be teaching a student who is continuing their life long passion for music.

Longy seeks and individual that is enthusiastic and committed to building a strong studio with experience teaching students of all ages and abilities as well as proven ability to recruit and grow a studio. We also look for strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills in our faculty members with the goal of promoting a productive and positive learning environment among students and other members of the Longy faculty. An advanced degree or demonstrated equivalent is required.
