2007-2008 Concert Season Rental booking for the 2007-2008 season will close on August 31, 2007. Space requests made after August 31 st cannot be considered for the current season. If you are currently enrolled in the Preparatory or Continuing Studies program, please contact the Concert Office about the new process for scheduling individual recitals.
2008-2009 Concert Season The rental booking period for the 2008 - 2009 concert season will open earlier than it has in past years (exact date TBD, will be announced on this page later in the fall.) All current rental clients will be notified as soon as the booking date has been determined. We will not be able to honor requests made before the booking period opens.

Longy leases its 3 concert spaces: the Edward M. Pickman Concert Hall, the Wolfinsohn Recital Room & Recital Room N1. Rental agreements are generally short term for events such as for concerts, rehearsals, meeting space & recording projects. Although exceptions may be considered, most rental events take place on Friday, Saturday & Sunday evenings or on Sunday afternoons. Sorry, but we do not rent regular practice space! As of September 2005, we will no longer rent Pickman Concert Hall for dance related activities.

The most efficient way to submit a date inquiry is to complete and return the "Longy 2006-07_Rental Inquiry Form" because it provides the CM with the details needed to give you an accurate cost estimate, determine if you qualify as a Longy Affiliate and to build your rental contract.
Essentially, the process of renting space from Longy breaks down into these steps:
Once the Rental Booking period is open, contact the Concert and Recording Services Manager to discuss dates you may be interested in.
After gathering details about your concert, the Concert and Recording Services Manager will place a "hold" on the date you've selected and prepare the contract and paperwork for your event.
In order to confirm your reservation, the required paperwork and payment must be returned by the deadlines outlined in your contract. If you do not adhere to the paperwork and payment deadlines or violate the terms of the rental agreement, your event may be cancelled.
How far in advance should I try to schedule a rental?
Serving the needs of Longy's students and faculty is the Concert Office's top priority. As of Fall 2007, Longy cannot accept new rental requests for the current season made after August 31.
Rental booking for the 2008-2009 concert season will happen earlier than it has in the past. (Exact date TBD, please check this webpage for updated information later in the fall.) Advance booking materials will be issued to all current renters and interested parties who register their contact information with the Concert Office by November 1, 2007. This booking packet will be available as a download form this website after January 1, 2008.
As a general rule, it is advantageous to book sooner rather than later. The more time you have to plan and promote your event, the better the chances of its success. The Longy concert schedule, especially in Pickman Concert Hall, is extremely active and dates tend to fill up quickly once the booking period opens.

events qualify for the Longy Affiliate Rental Rate?
Are there limits on how many events I
may book at the Longy Affiliate rate?
Longy Affiliates are current faculty members, current students and alumni of the Longy Conservatory, current students of the Preparatory and Continuing Studies programs (enrolled in at least 12 lessons per semester), current staff and current coaches.
To qualify for the Longy Affiliate Rental Rate, your event must meet 2 of the 3 following criteria:
the performing organization's point of contact must be a Longy Affiliate
50% of the ensemble must be made up of Longy Affiliates
Longy Affiliates must be featured on 50% of the program
Due to the high demand for Pickman Concert Hall, only one event per concert season may be booked at the Longy Affiliate Rate. You may book multiple concerts at the Longy Affiliate rate in the Wolfinsohn Recital Room or Recital Room N1.
Does Longy offer publicity
services to renters? How may we
advertise our concert inside & outside
of Longy?
Longy offers a limited number of complimentary publicity services to our rental clients, to supplement their publicity efforts. Rental event publicity services are subject to meeting paperwork and payment deadlines detailed within the booking paperwork, space availability and the approval of the Director of Communications. All services are subject to change and availability.
Any event publicity materials the Lessee may wish to post on the Longy School of Music property must be presented to the Director of Communications. The Concert Office will post approved materials, space permitting, on the designated bulletin boards.
Photographs & video images of the Longy School of Music property may not be used or published without the express written permission of the Director of Communications. Renters shall not involve the name "Longy School of Music," any member of its staff or its telephone numbers in publicity or ticket information without the written permission of the Director of Communications.
Does Longy offer box office or ticketing
services to renters?
Longy School of Music does not provide box office staffing or ticketing services to our renters. Ticket sales are exclusively the responsibility of our renters and may take place on Longy School of Music property only during the rental period on the day of the event.
Unfortunately, on-site parking isn't available to Longy's renters. An information sheet is included within the rental paperwork for directions and alternative parking solutions, including Longy's validation agreement with the Charles Hotel garage in Harvard Square. Any vehicle found in violation of these parking regulations will be subject to ticketing and/or towing.
