What should I bring to a college fair?
Pre-printed labels with your name, mailing address, phone, e-mail, instrument and program of study (example Undergraduate Diploma, Master of Music, etc.) – this will save you from filling out many inquiry cards and give you a chance to talk more with each school’s representative.
A bag – many fairs provide plastic bags for you at the entrance, but some do not. Having a bag with you will help you carry home your materials more easily.
Questions – school representatives remember organized, well-spoken students. Take the time to think of one or two questions to ask at each school’s display. Bring a notebook to take notes. Remember, you will be meeting with many school representatives and will not have time to ask more than one or two questions each.
An open mind – here is your chance to get to know some of the top music conservatories and programs in the country without having to travel all over. Check out all the schools, including the ones you’ve never heard of.
