At the Longy School of Music,
we are dedicated to the concept that accomplishment
must not be divorced from the person—that musical
education must engage the entire individual, going
beyond training of hands or vocal cords. At Longy,
your study is guided by an exceptional faculty, dedicated
to the art of teaching and to your individual growth
as a performer, teacher, creative being, and thinking
musician. Here you will be challenged to reach beyond
your highest artistic goals and encouraged to consider
how you intend to transform the world.
Karen Zorn, President
Longy’s belief that all musicians are first
and foremost individuals starts with the admissions
process. Our intention is to treat every inquiry
and application with care and respect, and to provide
outstanding support to prospective students, as well
as their parents, family members, and friends, as
they move through the process of applying, auditioning,
and making an enrollment decision.
Longy evaluates all applicants on their artistic
and academic preparation, and on the results of their
audition or portfolio review.
Applicants offered unconditional admission for
the fall semester will be notified of scholarship
awards by early April.
