Welcome to Longy! Choosing the environment in which to further your music studies is a process requiring a thorough knowledge of yourself as an artist and student. In deciding what school fits you best, examine your own successes as a student and student-artist and look for schools that offer a program that helps you succeed. We are the most intimate of the 5 music schools in Boston. Located in Cambridge, MA, our students number 200 at the conservatory level with one third of our incoming class arriving from countries around the world. Being a small conservatory, we are able to attract creative, intelligent students who are looking for new ways to communicate their music at the highest levels of musicianship.

The Office of Admissions is dedicated to helping you discover if Longy is the right place for your continued growth as an artist. I look forward to your visit,

- Heather McCowen, Associate Dean for Admissions and Student Services

The Admissions Office is eager to meet you! We look forward to personally introducing you to our school and discussing how Longy can meet your artistic goals. Scheduling a visit is a wonderful opportunity for you to tour our facilities, observe classes and rehearsals, and meet with faculty, staff, and fellow students. Tours are available Monday through Friday. Please feel free to contact Mariko Gillan at with any questions you may have and to arrange a tour.

“After my recent visit to Longy, I remember thinking to myself that even if I didn’t get accepted into this program what a wonderful and very different experience it has been compared to the many others I went through. ” –Catherine-Kerstine Mann, Louisiana, current student Fall 2004, Undergraduate Diploma, Voice Performance
