“Singing with the Longy Chorus
has been a joy for many years. We have explored a
myriad of composers, eras, styles and pieces. We
learn skill and technique from our conductor and
each other. Making music together is a rich experience
that yields both art and a friendly community.”
The Longy Chamber Chorus is an intimate (16-20 singers), tightly knit ensemble whose goal is to study and perform sophisticated, challenging music from many different styles and cultures. The chorus sings two concerts in Pickman Hall and has sung in other venues in the Greater Boston area. The chorus also takes advantage of its unique position as a member of the Longy community and has collaborated with other constituencies, such as the Longy Chamber Orchestra, the chamber music program, and Longy Opera Department.
The ensemble has previously worked with Longy Opera director Donna Roll and soprano Jean Danton. Solo opportunities are available. For advanced and intermediate level singers, by audition.
AUDITION: Auditioning singers will rehearse as an ensemble and then audition in quartets. No solo pieces are required. For further information and to request an audition time, please contact Denise Carter, Administrative Assistant, at or call 617.876.0956 x650. Late applicants will be accepted if space permits.
