For most people, individual private lessons are at the heart of a well-rounded musical
education. We are committed to finding the program of study that is appropriate for
each student. After an admission consultation, the student is assigned to a faculty
member based on teaching style, scheduling needs, and goals. The exact program of
study, based on the student’s goals and levels of accomplishment, is determined by
the faculty member.
Hourly private lesson rates range from approximately $1,400 to $1,800 per semester.
Tuition includes lessons plus recital or workshop performance opportunities.
Although the typical student registers for a complete semester of lessons, students
are welcome to begin lessons at any time during the semester and in some cases may
arrange for a less frequent lesson plan (additional fees may apply). Teachers may
recommend that a student supplement the private instruction curriculum with classes
or performance ensembles.
Performance Evaluations
A performance evaluation is an assessment of progress and accomplishment by a faculty panel. This opportunity is offered to students who register for 12 studio lessons per semester. These evaluations are held in the spring, and students will be notified early in the spring semester of the dates for their departmental evaluations. Interested students should consult with their teachers to decide the most appropriate repertoire
and etudes to be presented.
