Georges Longy Circle 2007 Holiday Party
Celebrate Music! Celebrate Longy!

Braving the cold weather of December 4, Longy's most faithful supporters – members of the Georges Longy Circle – stepped into the warmth of four fireplaces ablaze at the Brookline home of trustee Marilyn Ray Smith and her husband, Charles Freifeld. But that was only a warmup for the "hot" musical treats to follow. Below are photo highlights of the event, attended by friends of Longy whose leadership gifts are helping us prepare musicians to make a difference in the world.

(g) Gaby Whitehouse (left) and her husband, George, of Cambridge, visit with Micheline de Bievre, of Boston. (h) The evening’s musicians included pianist Fumi Masugata and oboist Sachiko Murata, Longy conservatory students who played a mesmerizing Mozart sonata.

(i) Yuriko Nonaka (left), a Longy student who won an international opera contest for her powerful portrayal of Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, visits with trustee Patricia Ostrander. (j) The operatic antics of students Rashaun Campbell (left), from Fort Worth, Texas, and Davron Monroe (right), from Jacksonville, Florida, delighted the audience, which included trustee Gene Dahmen (center). (k) Trustee John Carey visits with Michelle Vachon, who received her Master of Music at Longy and is now pursuing a Graduate Performance Diploma in opera.
