LONGY CHAMBER ORCHESTRA
Anne MansonAnne Manson Rejoins Longy Family for Spring Spectacular

On March 9, the Longy Chamber Orchestra was conducted by Anne Manson, whose historic milestones include being one of only three women to have been appointed music director of a leading American symphony. Click here for photo highlights of this concert at Harvard's Sanders Theatre, where many of the audience remembered that Manson had studied viola and piano at Longy in her youth. The concert also featured two other musicians from Longy's extended family: sopranos Michelle Trainor, a 2006 alumna, and Karyl Ryczek, who chairs the voice department.

PICKMAN HALL CHAIR NAMED FOR TRUSTEE
Joe HornerJoseph L. Horner, age 73
Longy Remembers Faithful Friend and Concertgoer
"He attended more concerts than any trustee and was always there for Longy, to fix a doorknob or lend a helpful hand," said Bonny Boatman, chair of the Board of Trustees, remembering Joseph Horner, of Belmont, who died March 7. In recognition of his legendary devotion to the school, Longy will designate a chair in the Pickman Concert Hall in his name. In addition, at the family's request, a fund at Longy in his memory is being established. To contribute to this fund, please contact Elizabeth Sloane by e-mail or call 617.876.0956 x633.
