INAUGURATION HIGHLIGHTS
President Karen L. Zorn
November 4, 2007
   

With trumpet fanfare and musical compositions that spanned the centuries, Longy School of Music inaugurated Karen L. Zorn as its 10th president on November 4. The festivities were attended by dignitaries representing universities and communities in the Boston area as well as hundreds of faculty, students and supporters of Longy, now in its 92nd year of training some of the world’s finest musicians.

(f) During the recessional led by faculty marshall Judith Ross, Karen Zorn pauses to greet delegates from area colleges and universities. (g) At the evening inaugural concert, celebrated jazz pianist JoAnne Brackeen played two high-energy compositions. (h) Numerous Longy faculty participated in the day’s performances including mezzo-soprano Myran Parker-Brass and saxophonist Stan Strickland, accompanied by Myran’s husband, Kenneth Brass. (i) Cellist Sergey Antonov, who studies at the Longy Conservatory, demonstrated the virtuosity that led to his winning the 2007 International Tchaikovsky Competition.
