Versatile Vocalist Kudisan Kai & Friends to Present Concert
Dec. 4 at Longy School of Music in Cambridge

Cambridge, MA – Concert goers will be in for a special treat Friday, Dec. 4, 8 p.m. when Kudisan Kai, a vocalist of great scope and dimension, performs at Longy School of Music’s Edward M. Pickman Concert Hall, 27 Garden Street (Harvard Square). Hailed as “Best Jazz Vocalist” by Downbeat Magazine, Kudisan Kai has performed with such artists as Diana Ross, Anita Baker, Chaka Khan, Bette Midler and Elton John, and has appeared with Sting on “The Tonight Show” with Jay Leno. She has produced several recordings and can be heard in a host of television and radio commercials and movie soundtracks.
Appointed this fall to Longy’s faculty in Modern American Music and Voice, Kudisan Kai also is an Associate Professor at Berklee College of Music in Boston. Her repertoire ranges from classical to jazz to rock. Classical selections in the Longy program include works by Browning/Holland, Ginastera, Esterales and Puccini. Jazz and rock selections are by Blackman, Carrington, Miller, Monk and the artist herself. Exceptional colleagues joining her for the program include Aurelien Budynek, guitar, Maxim Lubarsky, piano, Steve Jenkins, bass, and Terri Lyne Carrington, drums. The Unique Voices Concert and Residency Series is generously funded by Jane and Neil Pappalardo.

Family Series 2: “Winter Wonderland,” Sunday, Dec. 13, 2pm
Mark your calendars for family music fun at Longy’s next Family Series, "Winter Wonderland: The Velveteen Rabbit and Other Tales,” set for Sunday, Dec. 13, at 2pm, in Pickman Concert Hall. Celebrate the holiday season with this special program that weaves together classic stories and music including The Velveteen Rabbit by Margery Williams paired with Beethoven's Romance in F featuring Adrienne Bassett, violin, Christina Guibas, piano, and Lydia Bassett, narrator. Twelve Days of Christmas accompanied by Hickory Strings: Geoff Brown, mandolin, and Mark Whittaker, banjo; and the story of the Hanukkah candles with music performed by Longy's Sephardic Ensemble.

Longy at the Regattabar: “Notes a-Glist’ning,” Thursday, Dec. 17, 7:30pm
“Notes a-Glist’ning”: A delightful “snowstorm of notes” awaits you in this high-spirited holiday spectacular, brought to you by “Longy at the Regattabar.” Join world-class Longy performers as they romp through a musical winter wonderland. Enjoy festive songs of the season —Carol of the Bells, 12 Days of Christmas, Velvet Shoes, Fum Fum, We Need a Little Christmas and more.
